The passing of a Pope :(
News of John Paul's passing just reached me a while ago. Honestly, I don't know what to say; I know it's crazy, but I never really thought that this day would come. The idea of losing John Paul II, the only Pope I've ever known, was something that I knew would happen eventually, but I always just considered it an event far off in the future.
Well, the future's here, I guess.
One thing I am thankful for is being here on Benedictine's campus when it happened. After I learned of the Holy Father's passing, I walked over to St. Martin's chapel to pray; while I was walking over, the abbey and parish bells began ringing, and a big black cloth was being hung at the Roost. I could also see a group of people forming around the Marian statue up near the Library. All these events were a wonderful reminder of how much John Paul will be missed. He was such a holy man, and I feel sorry for all of us down here that now have to live without him.
Pray for us, John Paul II, and smile down on your flock down here as we continue on our Earthly journey.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of they womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God,
pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death.
Amen.

Lucky you, being at a Catholic College for this. I didn't even hear the bells ring at Fatima, or St. Joe's, both of which are about 2 miles away. I doubt my school would have done anything. "After all, who are we to judge if one man is holier than another?"
That means we will have a new Pope for World Youth Day! How odd... Fingers crossed for a worthy sucessor!
Ave Maria
Gratia Plena
Domunis Te Cum
Benedicta tu in mulieribus
et beneditcus fructus venris tui, Jesu.
Sancta Maria
Mater Dei
Ora pro nobis pecatoribus
nunc et in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen
(Something tells me my latin spelling has gone down the drain...)
